My Low Poly with AO maps screengrab from marmoset - no time to write heaps - but getting all the alphas to sort decently was a mission. ARGH.

Man I'd love to hear more about how you tackle hair currently having a massive fight with getting mine done.
(1st Time I've tackled it seriously.)
I realize your busy but any insight would be very valuable.
Will send pics :P hehehe.

I make one strip of planes, UVW map it and texture some hair onto it. Then i make 3 widths of that plane and give those 3 unique Texture space. I build up my hair in 3 layers for this hairstyle. The base ( big chunks ) and slightly darker hair colour, then i work on middle sized strands over the top, and finally thin strips of the lightest hair colour. the key is to texture your hair pieces on a nice easy flat and straight row of polys. Then afterwards distort those strips into the shape you want without stretching your texture too far :)

Interesting!
Sounds very similar to some of the Daz models I've dissected.
Btw you have any form of IM Msn/Gmail? or such and I will send you some pics. (Drop me a note.)
Character Im working has a some what "Anime" style.

Its for the project Im working on with 3 guys for a 3D side on fighter called Devil Days.(Blue Blaze / Street Fighter esque.)

Frustrating thing is where Im from I dont know a single 3D artist that even closely comes to what I want to achieve with my skills (and Im not saying Im brilliant I know I have a hell of a lot to learn.)
So these guys are very great full that Im working with them but that means every facet of the process Im responsible for.

I pay the bills with Arch viz work and all the other 3D artists I know are strictly viz and nothing else :P

wow sorry rambled abit there :)

Keen to hear from ya :)
