This is some of the freelance work im doing at the moment for Kingdom Death.

I've got permission to show a WIP for this miniature - she is the Preacher.

I start by taking my pre-constructed base mesh and getting her into the pose and simply start blocking out all the other bits and pieces. Notice I'm going straight for the pose rather than sculpt her symmetrically.

I do this on my own choosing, It would be faster doing it symetrically but im learning much more about forms and weight by tackling the sculpts more like a traditional guy would.

Great work!

It's very cool to see the step by step pics.
Hm... You work with the Base-Mesh in Zbrush. Is the book in her hands another subtool?
I ask, because i'dont know how to get several subtools to one basic mesh that is finally printable. What's the clue behind "remeshing"?

Keep on the great stuff!

hi there,

Yup the book is another subtool, you dont need to have everything as one tool at the end but it definitely helps :) lookup some help on decimation master and then subtool master and you will see you can reduce the resolution of the mesh without loosing much detail at all, and then combine all your subtools together and provide your printer with a nice mesh :)

The 3d-printing-company want's a "waterproofed" model. So a model that have one completely connected mesh.
When I merge the subtools, the mesh isn't completly connected. That's my great problem and why I'm asking. ;)
Remesh All and Projection is'nt very useful in this case. Repairing-Software crashes always. :(
How do you handle this? How do you combine them finally?

...or maybe i've asked the wrong printer-service.^^

Cheers!

hey man you should have known this before you started building your mesh! Now you have a lot of problems to fix up on your mesh!! Ive had to deal with this when i first began too. I dont know what the best solution is for your model, but you need to do what they say :)i just made sure i wasnt using any non waterproof meshes - utilise whatever method you need to close those holes!
