Mech Pilot - Callsign Goose!

I made this up last year in 2012 for fun & to brush up on my Hard Surface skills. Just getting around to showing him off now!

This is the low poly model captured realtime from my viewport in 3dsmax using the Xoliul shader.

Hes about 6500 tris and uses 2 x 1024 and 1 x 512 maps.

Created using Zbrush, 3dsmax & Photoshop.

Hi! This is amazing work!!
I'm getting started with Zbrush and getting used to this new process of highpoly and retopo...
But I'm having trouble with inorganic stuff, how do you get such sharp and flat surface for the armor?
Also do you have a really rough geometry base in max or like start from scratch in Zbrush?
I try to use the trimDynamic brush/ smooth, but You can still see little bumps

If you have any suggestions, thoughts, etc please tell me about it (I'm all ears...or eyes ? xD)

im wondering.. if he were to raise his arms parallel to the floor, wouldn't his shoulder armour prevent that because of the points that overlap his body armour?

I kept finding this on the the top of polycount and I kept trying to find better pictures of it. it also just so happens I'm looking through some of your stuff to try and figure out how to be a better sculptor and artist in general. I love your work, keep it up.

Gahh it's amazing as always! I'd love to see the process on something like this, that combines hard surface and organic, especially if it was done in zbrush! Have you seen Slipgatecentral's "NOX-2292" model process? it just absolutely BLOWS my mind! :faint:

That looks really good! It would be really cool to see a full body version of this. Out of curiosity, for the circular details such as the one on the chest armor, did you use an alpha stamp in zbrush or was that a separate sculpted piece?

its all built in 3dsmax :) the only parts i did in zbrush was a few of the clips and tiny indents etc.

Geezus, if that's low poly, I can't imagine what high poly looks like :XD: Amazing textures, as always, and the sculpt is a great mix of styles. That helmet is wicked cool too
