Im sharing this around because its something I feel extremely strong about. I wont sit idly by and let good artists be strongarmed into feeling jugded, second guessing and self censoring (removing from portfolio) their own work.
If you feel that way, my message to you is this:

Fellow artists,

I received some really troubling PM's today. Please don't feel you need to self-censor your work if you enjoy making pinups / sexy girls. Don't remove it from your folios, and never, ever, second guess what you enjoy spending your free time making. Especially don't feel judged because you appear to not be a champion of a cause of any kind. Regardless of how prominant of an artist you are, or where you work in our industry, your free time, is YOURS. Feel free to express who you are, NOT who other people think you should be.

Your eternal friend,

Hazardous.

I think there should never be censorship, but I also think artists should examine in themselves why they make what they do! Just because it comes naturally to them doesn't mean it isn't subtly sexist or bigoted, that is kind of how those things work. There is an absolutely ridiculous amount of sexy women in 3d and digital art (and actually... old masters' paintings too!) who have no other trait other than their T&A. The artist may be appreciating the female form, or mean no harm, but often this is from a male artist who has never had to seriously think about the reason he draws 2-dimensional sexy girls, but all his men have personalities or classes or end goals. After all, this paring-down of women exists in PROFESSIONAL game art, I don't blame men (and even women) who are learning for learning a bad lesson.

Make what you want, don't let anyone censor you. But sometimes criticism is not the same as censorship, and self reflection is important. :) That is my opinion.
